Uzès Book Club

At a Member’s home the third Tuesday of the Month
In October, the Uzès book club will be discussing ‘Precipice’ by Robert Harris – a historical fiction based on the letters between Stanley and Asquith. Summer 1914. A world on the brink of catastrophe. In London, 26-year-old Venetia Stanley – aristocratic, clever, bored, reckless – is having a love affair with the Prime Minister, H. H. Asquith, a man more than twice her age. He writes to her obsessively, sharing the most sensitive matters of state. The letters, as well as telegrams and other official documents result in a highly acclaimed novel, which blur the line between fact and fiction, illuminating love and power.
Book club numbers are limited, as we meet in members’ homes, and unfortunately, we currently have a waiting list. Feel free to contact us if you want to receive our reading list (created by member poll) or to be added to the waiting list.
