Our BritsVignes visit in November is to a vineyard near Saint-Chaptes, conveniently located for members living in the Uzès, Alès, Nîmes triangle. The estate’s origins go back to 1212, when the Knights Templar built a commandery, on the banks of the River Gardon. Today, the main tower is all that remains of the original building. Remarkably, since the 13th century, the Domaine de la Tour has only been sold three times, with the current owners acquiring the property in 1835.

The vineyard was entirely replanted in the 1980s and now carries the AOP Duché d’Uzès and IGP Cévennes classifications. In 2020, the estate achieved Organic Agriculture Certification, reflecting its commitment to sustainable and environmentally responsible winemaking.
