In April, we will be discussing ‘Project Hail Mary’ – a gripping novel about survival, ingenuity, and unexpected friendship, centered on a lone astronaut tasked with saving humanity. Written by Andy Weir, author of The Martian, this 2021 novel follows Ryland Grace, a former science teacher, who wakes up aboard a spaceship with no memory of who he is or why he’s there. As his memories return, he realizes he’s the last hope for Earth, sent on a desperate interstellar mission to stop a mysterious cosmic threat. The story blends hard science fiction with humour and emotional depth. It features detailed problem-solving, alien contact and a surprising alliance that challenges what it means to be human. It promises to be an interesting read.

The Book Club has a waiting list at the moment but we are happy to share our 2026 book list (created via a member poll) if anyone is looking for new reading ideas.  Please contact us if you are interested in being added to the waiting list or receiving our book choices.
